Once your baby is born, every day they learn something new. You celebrate every little thing and the year is FILLED with firsts. A lot of times their first BIRTHDAY is the icing on the cake of firsts and it’s a celebration to be remembered! You look back on what an incredible, fast, emotional year it was and you think – did I just blink? I am so grateful to have been with Walter throughout a lot of his moments – I saw his parents when he was growing in Mama’s belly and I was able to meet him just a few days after he was born! I even had the chance to see him again in October for our yearly mini sessions. Seeing Walter again to capture his simplicity session was perfection – he was full of smiles, happiness and CAKE! He even picked out his favorite outfit from the Darling Closet and didn’t have to get any cake on the clothes his mom brought. (Actually, he covered his mom in cake, too…) I think cake smashes are under rated. Seriously. I also think cake smashes should be yearly… let your 2, 3, 6 year old have an entire cake and eat it with their hands. Let them be little for as long as you can.
